About

Deirdre Gordon joined the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in September 2022 in an interim Senior Director of Development role with the Advancement team after serving for five years as the Associate Dean for Advancement at UNC School of Law. At Gillings, she builds relationships with alumni and friends to increase understanding and financial support of the Gillings School’s mission, and serves as program liaison for the Departments of Epidemiology, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Health Policy and Management, and Nutrition.

Gordon has more than 16 years’ experience in higher education fundraising, with a track record of setting and exceeding ambitious goals in a variety of roles at two leading T1 research universities across the humanities, STEM and athletics. She exercises an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising that is grounded in strong development practices with a focus on opening new avenues of support, discovering new prospects, and moving current donors to higher giving levels.

Prior to joining Carolina, Gordon spent her career in higher education at Duke University. She worked in a variety of positions in Duke Athletics, at the Sanford School of Public Policy, at the Nicholas School of the Environment, and at the Divinity School. 

Gordon is a graduate of Duke University, where she earned a B.S. in Biology.
