Daniel Carter is Vice President and Principal at Ascendient Healthcare Advisors, a healthcare strategy and planning firm in Chapel Hill. In more than 15 years at Ascendient, Daniel has assisted clients in a dozen U.S. states and internationally with hundreds of projects in a variety of areas, including: strategic planning; medical staff development planning; public health planning; community health needs assessments; business and service line planning; and, state regulatory planning, including Certificate of Need. Daniel’s work has been with a variety of organizations in the health sector, including hospitals and health systems, public health departments, physician practices, and the federal government.
Daniel’s undergraduate degree is from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. He received a Master of Business Administration with a Certificate in Finance from East Carolina University. Since 2014, Daniel has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, teaching Strategic Planning and Marketing. Daniel speaks regularly to professional organizations regarding healthcare planning, finance and regulatory matters. He has guest lectured at Furman University and at the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama.
