Dr. Cheryll Lesneski teaches courses in public health practice and community health improvement in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, Chapel Hill at the University of North Carolina. Cheryll also works with the US Department of Health and Human Services to improve the quality of US public health systems and their financial management. She has worked with quality experts in public health and health care for over 25 years and is the co-author of the text, Transforming Public Health Practice: Leadership and Management Essentials. Recently awarded a Pfizer grant with a fellow public health colleague, Dr. Lesneski and her colleague, Dr. Rohit Ramaswamy are working with staff at a NC Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Facility to help patients become and remain tobacco free by applying the principles of continuous quality improvement, system design, and implementation science. Before joining the faculty at UNC, Cheryll was a public health director for a rural county health department in FL. She spent 17 years in FL as a public health practitioner, working on many initiatives, such as farmworker health, violence intervention and prevention, adolescent pregnancy prevention, immunization outreach, maternal and child health, and more.
