About

Dr. Brettania O’Connor earned a PhD in Epidemiology from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Environmental and Occupational Health and a Graduate Certificate in International Health Policy from The George Washington University. She is currently the MPH Program Director at Northern Arizona University.

Her research focuses on rural and indigenous health, health disparities and barriers to accessing health care, including accessing and remaining in HIV clinical care. She has worked at the National Cancer Institute, WWF Global Arctic Programme office in Norway, in rural Brazil focusing on maternal and child health and at Northern Arizona University.

Dr. O’Connor places a high emphasis on evidence-based teaching methods and has earned her Certificate in Effective Teaching Practices from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE).
