This June, investigators from the UNC SRP and Carolina Center for Computational Toxicology travelled to Ottawa, Canada to conduct a workshop on new tools for chemical risk assessments.

Drs. Ivan Rusyn, Fred Wright and Alex Tropsha spent the day with regulators and scientists from Health Canada.

opportunity for researchers and practitioners to share ideas and to learn more about new tools in toxicology. During theday-long workshop, UNC investigators conducted a hands-on training session on several computational toxicology tools they have developed for Next Generation risk assessments.

Next Generation is a collaborative effort of several federal and state agencies, including the US EPA and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, aimed at incorporating the advances of molecular and systems biology into chemical risk assessments.
