PHLP’s Rogers selected for fellowship in international scientific society
Dec. 16, 2013
M.E. (Bonnie) Rogers, RN, DrPH, has been elected as a fellow of the Collegium Ramazzini, an international scientific society that aims to prevent disease and improve health through the examination of critical issues in occupational and environmental medicine.
Rogers is associate professor of public health leadership and nursing in the Gillings School of Global Public Health’s Public Health Leadership Program. She also is director of the School’s Occupational Health Nursing Program and director of the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Center, a program of the School’s N.C. Institute for Public Health.
The Collegium derives its name from Bernardino Ramazzini, father of occupational medicine and professor at the universities of Modena and Padua in the late 1600s and early 1700s. It is comprised of a select group of no more than 180 fellows from about 40 countries, each selected for his or her personal and professional integrity and distinguished in their contributions to occupational and environmental health.
“I am deeply honored to be elected into the collegium,” Rogers said. “I hope to be able to contribute to the organization’s advancement through my continued commitment to occupational safety and health and public health.”
Rogers will be acknowledged as a new fellow at the organization’s annual meeting Oct. 24-26, 2014.
