William Miller, MD, PhD, MPH, professor of epidemiology at UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, has been named editor-in-chief of the journal Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
Miller, who is also professor of medicine in the UNC School of Medicine, was appointed to the leadership role by the American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association, which oversees the journal. He succeeds Julius Schacter, PhD, professor emeritus of laboratory medicine at University of California at San Francisco, who served as editor for 25 years.
Miller has been a member of STD‘s editorial board since 2003 and also has served as an associate editor for Sexually Transmitted Infections, the other major journal in the field.
In a recent podcast, he answered questions about his vision for the journal and expressed hopes of cultivating a new generation of STD researchers.
