SPH ConnectCarolina Training Registration FAQs

These registration training FAQs only apply to the School of Public Health. Please click on the question to jump to the answers below:

FAQ#1: How do I register for a training session?

Required training for the new system is determined based on each person’s expected job function. Each department business manager has determined the expected training for each person and the SPH Business Office has consolidated these training requirements. Customized emails will be sent to each individual with the corresponding registration links for each required class. An example email appears below (click to enlarge).

For example, this individual has 7 classes to register for and attend. Beside the 7 classes are corresponding links to the registration pages. Please click on each link to bring up each registration page, pictured below (click to enlarge). Multiple sessions are offered for each course. Please complete all required information, choose the session that fits your schedule, and then click “Submit Registration”.

In a few minutes, you will receive a confirmation email providing you a record of your registered session. That email will also contain a link to an Outlook “vcard” (.vcs file) that you can download to hold the training timeslot in your calendar. Please see FAQ#4 for more details on holding the appointment in Outlook.

FAQ#2: How do I see which classes I have registered for?

Log into the Registrant Administration Module using your onyen and password, pictured below (click to enlarge).

On the left menu, click on “Current Registrations”, which will bring up a listing of registered courses. The “Date” column on this page is not correct. To view the specific date, time, and location for each of your registered courses, click “Edit” adjacent to each course name, pictured below (click to enlarge).

The original registration page for that course will appear showing your registered class session as indicated by the selected radio button. Either click “Save Changes” or simply close the page to exit.

FAQ#3: How do I choose another session for a certain course?

Follow the instructions for FAQ#2 to “Edit” the relevant course. This will bring you to the registration page, pictured below (click to enlarge). Choose your updated session date and time and then click “Save Changes”. Your registration will be updated. Note you will not automatically receive an email confirmation for this change. Please manually update your Outlook appointment manually to reflect the change. If you would like an email confirmation, please request one by emailing sph-connectcarolina@unc.edu and indicate the relevant course for which you would like an email confirmation.

FAQ#4: Why does my training not show up in my calendar?

The registration system unfortunately does not have a live link to UNC’s Outlook Exchange Server. However, there is a quick way to add your registered training sessions to your calendar. After submitting your registrations, you will receive a confirmation email from “SPH ConnectCarolina” indicating the session you have registered for as pictured below (click to enlarge). Within this email is a link that says “Click here to add to your calendar”. Click on this and a vcard (*.vcs file) will download using your default internet browser. Check the listing of your downloaded files or your default download location to find this .vcs file.

Click the downloaded .vcs file and an appointment will open up in Outlook, pictured below (click to enlarge). Click “Save & Close” on this appointment to hold the timeslot in your Outlook.

Note: if you make manual changes to your registered session (i.e. switch to another session according to FAQ#2), your calendar appointment will not automatically update. Please manually update your calendar to ensure the training timeslot is appropriately booked.

FAQ#5: How do I cancel my registration?

On the left menu, click on “Current Registrations”, which will bring up a listing of registered courses. To cancel from a course completely, click on “Cancel” adjacent to appropriate course name, pictured below (click to enlarge).

You need to confirm your cancellation by clicking “Cancel Registration” on the registration page that appears, pictured below (click to enlarge). Before cancelling your registration, please confirm with your business manager to ensure that you truly do not require a certain course because completion of training for each module is a prerequisite to obtaining system access to the corresponding module at go-live.

After you cancel your registration, you will receive an email confirming your cancellation. Note that the original calendar appointment that was added to your calendar will not automatically delete. Please delete that appointment manually to reduce confusion going forward.

FAQ#6: I’ve accidentally cancelled my registration – how do I re-register for a class?

After cancelling your registration, you will receive an email confirming your cancellation. Within that email is a link to the registration page of the course that was just cancelled. Click on that link, complete all required information, select your desired session, and then click “Submit Registration” to re-register.
