Speakers to discuss approaches to public health, here and abroad

UNC will host “Navigating the Global American South: Global Health and Regional Solutions,” a conference in the Research Triangle Park, April 19-20.Experts will explore regional approaches to public health and ask what experiences translate between the American South and other world regions. Recovery from Hurricane Katrina; nutrition and obesity; HIV/AIDS and Hispanic access to health care will be among the topics discussed. Speakers will include:
Participants may register through March 16 for $80 each, and from then until April 13 at $95. The conference, to be held at the Hilton Raleigh-Durham Airport Conference Center, will be sponsored by UNC’s Center for Global Initiatives, Center for the Study of the American South and Office of Global Health.
