Research, Innovation and Global Solutions empowers Gillings faculty members, students and staff to solve local and global health problems through research, innovation and practice.

We provide guidance and support in the areas of:

Global Health

Gillings Global Gateway 2015 Open House.We promote and advance UNC Gillings global health activities through partnerships, internships, outreach and communications. Our activities include overseeing the Residential Graduate Certificate in Global Health; administering funded global health internships; promoting global health academic opportunities and global health faculty expertise; and producing Public Health Behind the Scenes podcast.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

We outfit the UNC Gillings entrepreneurs with tools necessary for success by promoting, advising, guiding and funding. Seeking out and nurturing practical solutions to big problems, our group provides concierge services for the School’s entrepreneurs, helping them navigate the campus entrepreneurship ecosystem. We manage the Gillings Innovation Labs, yearly awards of up to $150k, for innovation projects that have significant potential to impact public health.


We promote and facilitate UNC Gillings researchers by ensuring research productivity remains strong, catalyzes new partnerships, launches careers, is compliant and continues to advance the field of public health. We connect researchers to services, resources, collaborators and opportunities. We lead research development activities including those centered around our strategic themes, facilitate Team Science and partnerships, manage the research integrity program and provide tools and systems to enhance research collaborations and storytelling. Our group serves as the knowledge management unit for research-related data, analytics and reporting. Explore our research!
