As recipient of the 2011 UNC-Chapel Hill GEAB Impact Award, Allie Sanders, a PhD candidate in Dr. Rebecca Fry’s laboratory, presented findings of her work on arsenic in North Carolina wells with State Legislators in Raleigh, NC in May 2012.

Sanders’ study provides public health officials and individual consumers with valuable information about arsenic contamination in domestic wells, potentially leading to public health advances in North Carolina.

Sanders had the opportunity to speak directly with several legislators during a poster session at the General Assembly, raising awareness of metal contamination in unregulated domestic drinking wells.
