Dr. Bryce Reeve

Bryce Reeve, PhD, associate professor in UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s Department of Health Policy and Management, has been elected president of the International Society for Quality of Life Research for a two-year term beginning in 2011.

The Society’s mission is to advance the scientific study of health-related quality of life and other patient-centered outcomes to identify effective interventions, enhance the quality of health care and promote the health of populations.

Reeve brings to the position his training and experience in patient-reported outcomes measurement and research, as well as skills in collaboration and management.

“This is an exciting time, as patient-reported outcomes research is being advanced at an unprecedented rate,” Reeve said. “Patient-reported outcomes will serve as key indicators in comparative effectiveness research to evaluate safety and efficacy of interventions. With personalized medicine, knowing the link of genes with treatment outcomes and health-related quality of life research will inform treatment choice. The rapid adoption of electronic health care systems in clinics will benefit from health-related quality of life research data to enhance patient monitoring and treatment planning.”
