Focuses on combining basic science research in molecular biology with epidemiology and bioinformatics. Studies the interactions between genetic and environmental factors in the pathogenesis of cancer. Dr. Keku’s laboratory research is focused on studying the relationship between colorectal cancer and genes involved in folate metabolism, DNA repair, and insulin resistance as well as assessing the role of lifestyle and dietary factors. Her second research interest is to determine biomarkers of colorectal cancer risk. Current research projects involve assessing the role of apoptosis, proliferation and the IGF-axis in colorectal carcinogenesis.
