Juhaeri Juhaeri, PhD
Juhaeri completed his Ph.D. in Epidemiology at UNC in 1999 under supervision of Dr. June Stevens. While at UNC, his research interests included the causes and consequences of obesity, cardiovascular disease as well as epidemiology methods and he was involved in various research projects including ARIC and Pathways studies. Since switching to the pharmaceutical industry, he has been continuing his collaborations with UNC through various UNC – Sanofi projects related to obesity, cardiovascular disease, insulin and cancer. Juhaeri is currently Head of Epidemiology at Sanofi, responsible for epidemiologic studies to address drug safety issues. His primary research interests include pharmacoepidemiology, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, advanced epidemiology methods, benefit – risk methods, risk management, data mining, and signal detection. He is a Steering Committee member of the Pharmacoepidemiological Research on Outcomes of Therapeutics by a European Consortium (PROTECT), a collaborative European project to address limitations of current methods in the field of pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance coordinated by the European Medicine Agency (EMA). He is also a member of various public – private initiatives.
