About
Dr. Gerri Mattson is an public health pediatrician with over ten years of experience working for the state Title V agency in the North Carolina Division of Public Health. She has served as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Maternal Child Health for almost seven years.
Dr. Mattson has expertise in the systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). She has worked to improve efforts to ensure medical homes and health care transition efforts for all children and especially CYSHCN. She has also worked to increase the engagement of the Department with Title V efforts and with the N.C. Public Health Association.

Teaching Interests
Dr. Mattson is the co-chair and serves as faculty of the N.C. Medical Society Leadership College to help train future physician and physician assistant leaders in counties across the state.
Dr. Mattson has taught classes in the Department of Maternal and Child Health about medical homes for children and youth with special health care needs.
She served as faculty for a preventive medicine rotation for a resident in the UNC program during the spring semester of 2015.
Service Activities
Dr. Mattson has served on a State Medical Assistance Team called CAP RAC for disaster and emergency planning.
Practice Activities
Dr. Mattson continues to volunteer and see patients at the Wake County Health and Human Services Child Health Clinic about half a day per week.
