Offered by UNC’s Gillings top-ranked School of Global Public Health, the GO MPH™ degree provides working professionals from around the world with the essential skills to address current and emerging public health issues. As a track administered by our Public Health Leadership Program, the GO MPH™ will give you skills in:

  • Leadership. Learn and apply contemporary leadership models in individual, organizational and community settings will help you improve the health of people worldwide.
  • Public Health. Master how to develop effective, interdisciplinary solutions to complex public health issues.
  • Practice. Apply best practices to implementing knowledge and experiences in ways that promote and improve population health.

Prerequisites:

Potential students have a bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., nursing, pharmacy, science, social science, engineering or public health) or a professional degree (e.g., medicine, dentistry or law), and preferably three or more years of work experience.

Expectations:

Students will be required to take two courses (6 credit hours) per semester. A total of 42 credit hours are required for the degree, which can be completed in seven semesters (two years, including summer).

The GO MPH offers an innovative, online approach for working professionals around the world.


The Curriculum Includes:

Introductory course in global public health (3 credit hours)

A course on principles of global public health leadership (3 credit hours)

Courses covering part of the MPH core competency requirements (9 credit hours)

Two core courses in epidemiology and biostatistics (6 credit hours)

Four courses within a concentration area (12 credit hours)

One elective (3 credit hours)

A practicum (3 credit hours)

A master’s paper (3 credit hours)
