Peterson honored by United Kingdom’s Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

Herbert Peterson, MD, Kenan Distinguished Professor and chair of UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s maternal and child health department, has been selected as an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ (RCOG) Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. He will be awarded the fellowship on Nov. 18 in London. According to Dr. Christine Robinson, president of the RCOG Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, the award is “bestowed upon persons of eminence recommended by council as having rendered exceptional services to the science or practice of sexual and reproductive health.”
Peterson currently chairs the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ (ACOG) Global Women’s Health Committee. ACOG, the American counterpart of RCOG, awarded Peterson its Distinguished Service Award in 2004.
