The Metabolic & Nutrition Research Core at UNC Healthcare offers a variety of nutrition research assistance to complement your clinical studies.

Contact us to assist with all stages of the feeding study. Our dietitians will assist with the design and development of specific research diets. The metabolic kitchen uses computer software (ProNutra, Food Processor and USDA databases) to meet the nutrition related medical issues (i.e., allergies), while remaining culturally appropriate.
In addition to our nutrition services, we offer both staff and resources to assist with specific body composition assessment needs. These services include the following measures: Indirect Calorimetry to assess individual’s energy expenditures; Bioelectrical Impedance, one of the most reliable, fast and safe ways to measure six key body composition elements.
