The Public Health Leadership Program (PHLP) of the School of Public Health and the School of Nursing are planning an Interdisciplinary Academic/Community Service Learning Trip in Biloxi, Mississippi, March 11 – March 17, 2007.

As plans now stand, participants will be staying at Camp Biloxi Tent City and assisting community clinics and public health programs in a variety of tasks along coastal Mississippi. Additionally, they will help community groups with ongoing cleanup and rebuilding.

This is the second year the PHLP and the School of Nursing have sponsored this project. Last year’s trip was very successful, and students gained valuable public health experience working in a disaster zone. The state of emergency in MS is expected to continue through part of next year. A documentary video of the 2006 trip can be seen at /webcast/webcasts-38/.
