The awards provide funding support to student organizations at the School for innovative service projects that benefit communities in North Carolina and around the world. Recipients were selected by a committee of peers from the School’s Executive Council of Student Government.

EWB’s project, “Sanitation System in Ciudad de Dios, Peru,” seeks to continue to build capacity in sanitation and water through an ongoing commitment to Ciudad de Dios. EWB members have supported Ciudad de Dios since 2006.

GlobeMed's Gillings Award will be used to improve communications and data-sharing among counselors in Uganda working with people with HIV/AIDS.
