Instructional and Information Systems (IIS) provides many core IT services for the School. The most frequently used are listed below. Please contact us if you have questions or are seeking information about services that you do not find described here.
Some SPH departments, including BIOS, EPID, ESE, HPM, NUTR also maintain local IT services. Please check departmental web pages for more information.
Audio/visual equipment checkout
Faculty, staff and students may check out a variety of portable equipment and accessories from Rosenau Room 233, including laptop computers, camcorders, projectors, portable speakers, webcams, and many other items. The AV Reservation Form allows you to view and reserve equipment. See the A/V Equipment section at left for more information.
We manage and maintain technology located in the classrooms and central conference rooms in Rosenau and McGavran-Greenberg Halls, and in the Michael Hooker Research Center. See the Classroom Technology section at left for a list of supported classrooms and information about the specific technology setup in each room. Please note that the list does NOT include rooms managed by individual departments.

Classroom lecture capture
We support an automated system for easy capture of classroom-based presentations in the School’s auditoriums, ROS 133 and MHRC 0001. The system can capture video of the presenter that is synchronized with a display of any content presented through the room’s computer. The captured presentation can be delivered via the web live or made available for on-demand viewing.

We provide training and assistance with managing courses taught in Sakai and Blackboard. We also offer support for using other teaching and learning technologies such as blogs, wikis, web conferencing, and a variety of tools for creating and sharing online content. Desktop and laptop support
We set up and configure new university-owned computers, including file transfers from old computers. We resolve hardware and software problems upon request, and test, install and troubleshoot OS updates and software as needed. We also provide instructions for setup of personal mobile devices for use with campus email. Service is available by calling 962-HELP, submitting a ticket at help.sph.unc.edu, or by walk-in to ROS 223 (technicians are often away assisting other clients). See the Request Help section for directions on submitting a help ticket. Please note that this service is fee-based.

We maintain the main School web site, including troubleshooting, bug fixes and new features. We can provide advice and referrals regarding other web projects, including the campus WordPress site web.unc.edu.
