Ashley Winslow, Sadaf Houssain and Matt Hasbrouck, graduate students in health policy and management at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, were among the top five teams at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s annual health care case competition on Feb. 11. A total of 24 teams participated in the event.
First held in 2007, the case competition provides students with the opportunity to present recommendations about a health management issue to a national panel of judges. It is designed to be a capstone experience that tests students’ analytic, teamwork, communication and presentation skills and offers the opportunity to apply skills to a real-life case.
“We are very proud of how this team represented our department and School in the final round of competition,” said Peggy Leatt, PhD, professor and chair in the Department of Health Policy and Management and associate dean for academic affairs at the School.
“These events require much preparation and take a great deal of planning time, and our team performed beautifully,” she said.
