HPM student wins recognition for public health text

Anand Kurup, a student in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s executive doctoral program in health leadership, was first prize winner in the public health section of the 2011 British Medical Book Awards. The distance-learning executive program is administered through the School’s Department of Health Policy and Management. Kurup, a resident of Geneva, was recognized by the British Medical Association for Equity, Social Determinants and Public Health Programmes, co-authored with Erik Blas (World Health Organization, 2010). The association’s book awards aim to encourage and reward excellence in medical publishing.
