Harris accepts award at Kiev conference

Dean M. Harris, JD, clinical associate professor of health policy and management at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, accepted the Health and Law Bioethics Award at the International Congress on Medical and Pharmaceutical Law, Bioethics and Social Policy in Kiev, Ukraine, held April 19-21. Conference participants included scholars, scientists, physicians, lawyers, pharmaceutical company managers and representatives from health-related nongovernmental organizations, among others. They came to the meeting from a number of European and eastern European nations, including Poland, Russian Federation, Turkey, Belgium, France and others.
Harris also delivered two presentations at conference plenary sessions, serving as chair of one. He spoke on “President Obama and the Continuing Struggle for Health Reform in the United States” and “Global Perspectives on the Law of Medical Malpractice and the Reform of Medical Malpractice Laws.”
