Daniel S. Goldberg, JD, PhD, and an MPH student in the Public Health Leadership Program, recently published an article in the American Journal of Public Health, “Against the Very Idea of the Politicization of Public Health Policy.”

Dr. Goldberg argues in the article against narrowing the public health model out of concern for politicization of public health policy. He contends that “open deliberation in a democratic social order is best served by acknowledging the constraints of the inescapably politicized process of public health policymaking.”

Dr. Goldberg is with the Department of Bioethics and Interdisciplinary Studies at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC. The article appeared in the January 2012 issue of the Journal.
