Dr. Ramaswamy is an expert in  the implementation and improvement of health systems. He specializes in using methods such as design thinking, Lean, Six Sigma and continuous quality improvement to  enhance  the performance of  healthcare and public health processes in the US and globally. Read More

Dr. Ramaswamy’s current projects include: devising a curriculum and pilot testing an online training program in global health issues for managerial-level public health professionals; developing an online Learning Center to share best practices on monitoring and evaluation of global water programs in nine countries; introducing smoking cessation interventions into alcohol and drug treatment facilities in North Carolina; introducing mental health interventions through the primary health care system in India; developing neonatal centers in Ghana; developing a quality improvement program for the health system in Zambia; developing monitoring and risk management systems for a maternal clinic in Kenya; and assessing public health quality for the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Ramaswamy’s Professorship was awarded with the aim of developing a pilot distance-based global health learning program for public health professionals around the world. Dr. Ramaswamy is President of Service Design Solutions, a consulting firm in Des Moines, Iowa, that partners with nonprofit and other organizations to improve service quality, manage data and institute organizational change. He holds a master’s degree from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
