EMP Course Dates
NOTES: BaseCamps and Applied Leadership Integrative Modules are included in on-campus course dates.
Online classes are scheduled in two-hour blocks of time from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM or 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on two of the following evenings: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday each week.
Total Credit Hours: 48
BaseCamps are intense sessions focused on ensuring each student has the core basic skills necessary across the curriculum. They are held at the beginning of each semester. Topics covered include: self-leadership, effective presentations, effective writing, library search, team work, Excel functions, effective time management, concept mapping and idea generation techniques, diagramming and flowcharting processes, effective project management, and ethical frameworks.
Leadership Practicum and Journaling
An important part of the program is a required journal in which students reflect, throughout the program, on program content, key learning, and experiences. Students read books on topics such as political savvy, power–its uses and abuses, negotiation, psychology of persuasion, reputation management, and self-leadership. Students develop a leadership plan, as well as a relationship with a mentor/preceptor.
Applied Leadership Integrative Module
On-campus integrative modules reinforce skills learned in the classroom and apply them to a real business case. Students receive the topic and materials a few weeks before their on-campus sessions. While on campus, students work in teams to form and present their business case. Topics vary, but may include: disaster management, turnaround management, governance, workforce development.
