Hugh Tilson, MD, adjunct professor in the Public Health Leadership Program, was among the honorees at The American College of Preventive Medicine’s Preventive Medicine 2011 banquet in San Antonio, TX.

 

Dr. Tilson was awarded the Ron Davis Special Recognition Award, named for former ACPM Fellow and President of the American Medical Association, Dr. Ronald Davis. Dr. Tilson was honored for his long-standing dedication to the American College of Preventive Medicine and numerous accomplishments in the field of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Tilson is a past-president of ACPM, and in addition to his adjunct appointment at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC, he currently serves on the adjunct faculty of Duke University is the County Health Officer for Sagadahoc County, Maine.

 
The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) is the national professional society for physicians committed to disease prevention and health promotion. ACPM was established in 1954. Its 2,500 members are engaged in preventive medicine practice, teaching and research. “It is such a pleasure to showcase the depth of expertise we have within the ACPM membership and these award winners are a perfect testament to that expertise,” stated ACPM President Miriam Alexander, MD, FACPM.
