The Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering is pleased to announce Daniel M. Gatti, ESE’s Computing Consultant, has won a 2005 IT Award. Don Fox comments, “Dan’s skills and abilities to provide computer support to our large complex department are remarkable. I continually get unsolicited positive feedback about Dan diagnosing and solving all types of computer problems large and small.” The awardees were honored at the IT Awards Ceremony and Banquet that was held on Wednesday, April 13 at the Carolina Club. This award was created by the University’s IT Department to publicly encourage and acknowledge support efforts of their peers on campus to upper level management. Dan was the lab manager for Professors Singer and Weinberg drinking water laboratories from 2002 until he accepted the department computing consultant job in 2004. Dan received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1992 and completed additional courses receiving a Programming Certificate from NC State in 1999. He worked at the NC Supercomputing Center in environmental modeling and software development on atmospheric processes from 1997 to 2002 before coming to UNC.For further information please contact Rebecca Riggsbee Lloyd by email at Rebecca_Lloyd@unc.edu
