April 12, 2012 | |
Greg Characklis, PhD, associate professor of environmental sciences and engineering, was profiled in the spring 2012 issue of NC Currents, a magazine published by the North Carolina American Water Works Association and the North Carolina Water Environment Association (NC AWWA-WEA). The article, “Greg Characklis: Building capacity for water resource management,” highlights Characklis’ research on water resource management and the partnerships formed between his research team and local municipalities. The research team’s work helps local water authorities manage water supply risks, use existing resources more efficiently and plan for crisis periods, such as droughts.
“Greg represents an ideal blend of academic expertise with a real on-the-ground understanding of how water utilities work and how decisions are made,” said Ed Holland, planning director for Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA). Holland was quoted in the article.
The article is available on page 70 of the spring issue (PDF) of NC Currents.
