On Wednesday (Nov. 10), UNC and Duke University will team up for a panel discussion on “What the 2004 Election Means for Health Policy in 2005 and Beyond.”The event, free to the public, will take place at the UNC School of Law’s rotunda from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The panel will be moderated by Dr. Tom Ricketts, deputy director of UNC’s Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research and professor in the UNC School of Public Health’s department of health policy and administration.

Ricketts will be joined on the panel by:

Dr. Bill Roper, dean of UNC’s School of Medicine, chief executive officer of UNC Health Care, vice chancellor for medical affairs at UNC and administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) during the Reagan administration;

Dr. Kevin Schulman, professor of medicine at the Duke’s School of Medicine, professor of business administration at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and director of the Center for Clinical and Genetic Economics of the Duke Clinical Research Institute; and

Dr. Bruce C. Vladeck, professor of health policy and geriatrics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a member of the New York City Board of Health, who was HCFA administrator during the Clinton administration.

The panel discussion is co-sponsored by the UNC-Duke Health Policy Forum, UNC’s School of Medicine, the Robertson Scholars Program, Ernst & Young and the Health Law and Policy Association of Carolina Law.
