Millie Jones

Millie J. Jones, MPH, has been elected president of the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs’ board of directors. AMCHP is a national resource, partner and advocate for state public health leaders and others working to improve the health of women, children, youth and families in the U.S., including those with special health care needs.

 
Jones, who received her Master of Public Health degree in maternal and child health at Gillings School of Global Public Health in 1982, has worked in the Wisconsin Division of Public Health since 2005. There, in the Department of Health and Family Services, she assists agencies and communities in developing, implementing and evaluating maternal and child health and family planning programs.
 
In 2006, the Gillings School’s Department of Maternal and Child Health honored Jones with its Chipman Award, presented annually to an alumna or alumnus with outstanding promise in the field.
 
Prior to attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jones worked as a physician’s assistant at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C. She has been an active strategist and advocate in the field of maternal and child health for more than 25 years.
