Dr. Keku focuses on combining basic science research in molecular biology with epidemiology and bioinformatics. She studies the interactions between genetic and environmental factors in the pathogenesis of cancer. Dr. Keku’s laboratory research studies the relationship between colorectal cancer and genes involved in folate metabolism, DNA repair and insulin resistance as well as assessing the role of lifestyle and dietary factors. Her secondary research interest is determining biomarkers of colorectal cancer risk. Current research projects involve assessing the role of apoptosis, proliferation and the IGF-axis in colorectal carcinogenesis.
